According to the National Custom and Self Build Association (NaCSBA), 14,000 homes will be built across the UK in the next year. Reinforcing this commitment, The National Homebuilding & Renovating Show at the NEC, Birmingham last weekend experienced a four per cent increase in serious self-builders and renovators, delivering the busiest event in 10 years, with over 80 per cent of the attendees working on a live project over the next 12 months.
Britain’s largest self-build event, sponsored by Everest, attracted 37,111 engaged, targeted and affluent visitors with average project values of £125,000 for materials alone. Internal data shows that a third of those attending are self-builders and two thirds are renovating a property.
In addition, the show has already attracted very strong rebooking figures, which are ahead of last year’s numbers.
Nick Noble, deputy managing director of Centaur Home Interest, says: “The exceptional quality of the visitors demonstrates the UK’s continued commitment to self-building and renovating. We’re thrilled the show was so busy and that the visitors were highly engaged and relevant, which has translated into an excellent rebooking rate by exhibitors for the 2018 event already. The self-build market has become an integral part of the government’s housing policy and this will, without doubt, add to continued growth in this sector in the years ahead.”
The audience was totally engaged with the content, as the event showcased a wide range of businesses equipped with the expertise and product portfolio required to tackle queries from buying a plot to building or remodelling a home. Over four intense days, the show featured 500 exhibitors, 16 free daily seminars, 35 masterclasses, and one-on-one advice sessions with experts including Julia Kendell, interior design expert and co-presenter of ITV’s ‘Rebuild Our Home’, and Charlie Luxton, sustainable architectural designer and presenter of More 4’s new ‘Building the Dream’ series.
One of the highlight exhibitors at the event was Everest, a British company with over 50 years’ experience in double glazed windows, conservatories, doors and more.
The Homebuilding & Renovating Shows, part of Centaur’s portfolio, attract exhibitors across a wide range of sectors to cater for all interests. From design; architecture; financial services; kitchens; bathrooms; doors and windows; ventilation; heating; planning permission and much more, companies will offer visitors an overview of the latest products, services and technologies available in the UK market.
