London, October 2019: The Student Hotel – the uncontested pioneer in hybrid hospitality globally – opens its doors to its brand new Berlin location this October. Creating waves in the hospitality world, The Student Hotel brings their award-winning and unique concept which unites co-living and co-working under one roof, to the iconic landmark location of Alexanderplatz in the heart of Berlin’s Mitte district.
The Student Hotel is not exclusively for students. It offers quality hotel accommodation and short-stay spaces for affordable prices to its connected community of students, young professionals and all those with an entrepreneurial spirit from across the globe. The Student Hotel Berlin boasts 158 hotel rooms, 35 short stay rooms, 282 student room over eight floors. Students can stay from one term to one year, hotel guests from one night, and short stay guests from 14 nights at The Student Hotel Berlin.
It’s not just accommodation that’s on offer. The Student Hotel Berlin offers physical, digital and cultural spaces for its guests to become ‘students of the world’, to learn, stay, work and play – growing through shared experiences and stories. The Student Hotel Berlin also plays host to the largest open courtyard in the German capital, offering the ultimate destination for communal relaxation. Guests can kick back and relax in the open-air cinema, lounge and games rooms, work out in the state-of-the-art fitness studio, knuckle down in the co-working spaces, library and study facilities, rent a bike from the 24 hour concierge, or network in coworking space and restaurant ‘The Commons’ – the perfect place to connect with others over a cup of coffee and a bite to eat.
With a stand-out aesthetic from the rest of the group, The Student Hotel Berlin’s design is a tasteful reflection of the glamour and grunge that Berlin is famous for, taking inspiration from the local architecture and art scene, together with hints of the Memphis Style pioneered by Italian designer Ettore Sottsass in the 1980s.
Forward-thinking Scottish Entrepreneur, Charlie MacGregor founded The Student Hotel in 2006 at the age of just 25. The CEO commented on the new Berlin opening:
“Berlin is one of the largest student cities in Europe and tops the rankings as a destination for international students. Our Berlin site is the newest posterchild of our mixed-use concept of hybrid hospitality. We are really excited to open a location in such a vibrant hotspot which has been undergoing a major regeneration since the reunification of Germany. We also want to bring our student spirit to other vibrant cities that have the right mix of universities, (international) students and culture. The Student Hotel Berlin demonstrates our ability to anchor new districts and act as a catalyst and an accelerator for urban regeneration.”
