Q&A WITH ANGELA HARTNETT MBE AT CHARITY LUNCH

One of the UK’s most loved chefs and restaurateurs, Angela Hartnett MBE, is taking part in a Q&A session as part of a lunch event at Lime Wood on Monday 14th October for industry trade charity, Hospitality Action.

Angela Hartnett, MBE, is known for her sophisticated yet simple, Italy-inspired cooking. Born in Britain, her passion for good, honest food and the best ingredients was instilled in her by her Italian grandmother and mother.

She started out in the kitchens at Aubergine, Zafferano, L’Oranger and Petrus, and went on to launch several restaurants with Gordon Ramsay. She opened her own Michelin-starred restaurant in 2008, Murano in Mayfair, serving modern, seasonal food with an Italian accent and one of the few restaurants to hold 4 AA Rosettes. Since then she has gone on to open several more restaurants in London and one in France, as well as Hartnett Holder & Co at Lime Wood, with Chef Luke Holder. Angela also has two cookbooks to her name – Cucina (2007) and Angela’s Kitchen (2011).

This intimate event will be hosted in the Scullery at Lime Wood, a 5 Star boutique country house set in the heart of the stunning New Forest National Park. The Scullery is an informal and simple yet evocative setting in the style of an 18th century country house kitchen, with a large central open fireplace. The Q&A will be followed by a three course lunch prepared by Luke Holder and the Hartnett Holder & Co team, and guests will be gifted a copy of the brand new book from Lime Wood’s sister hotel, THE PIG, ‘The Pig: Tales and Recipes from the Kitchen Garden and Beyond’, which was released in July 2019.

About the upcoming event, Angela has commented: “I am excited to be taking part in this Q&A for Hospitality Action, and the Lime Wood team are delighted to be hosting it. I have worked in restaurants my entire career and know how tough this industry can be. It is fantastic to know the charity is there to offer support to those who work in hospitality who are facing hardship.”

Tickets are £75 and include: Soft drink on arrival, Question and Answer session with Angela Hartnett, three course lunch, glass of wine and a copy of the brand new book from Lime Wood’s sister hotel, THE PIG, ‘The Pig: Tales and Recipes from the Kitchen Garden and Beyond’.

About Hospitality Action – their support and other hospitality-based events

Hospitality Action is the trade charity for the hospitality industry and has been helping hospitality people in crisis for 180 years. Today, its EAP supports industry professionals by providing specialist, independent and confidential advice, support and assistance, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.

The charity has the dedicated support of many of the industry’s leading figureheads. For example, their ‘Back to the Floor event’ sees 70 industry stars testing their silver service skills at The Dorchester in London.

In addition, Pollen Street Social’s Jason Atherton began the trend of ‘Social Sundays’ in 2015, donating the profits of his London Restaurants to Hospitality Action on one special Sunday. The same notion is now employed in over 100 foodie hotspots across London and the rest of the UK on a special Sunday, including the likes of Tom Kerridge and Tom Kitchen.

Using the money raised at these events:

£100 will buy basic clothing and waterproof shoes for someone in need.

£250 will buy baby items for a new mum with no one else to turn to.

£1,000 will help towards the cost of an unexpected funeral.

In 2018 the charity spent £110,717 supporting those in need in the South West

Registered Charity number: 1101083.
