The Lock Kitchen & Bar welcomes visitors aboard

The Lock Kitchen & Bar, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Leeds, has officially opened on the historic Leeds and Liverpool canal following a redesign of the former City Cafe.

Located on the ground floor of the hotel at Granary Wharf, where Leeds’ famous canal culminates, The Lock Kitchen & Bar is serving hearty, down to earth food in a casual and comfortable environment.

The new city centre venue is steeped in the heritage of the city’s waterways, and prides itself on unpretentious service in warm and inviting spaces, where guests can relax and feel at home. The refurbishment also extends to the outdoor waterside terrace, ideal for those looking for a calming retreat to make the most of the summer weather.

Offering freshly prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner options, the rustic kitchen menu features comfort food with a twist, using the very best in locally-sourced produce to create exceptional dishes including fresh deli sandwiches, perfect for livening up any lunch hour.

Guests will also be able to navigate their way through hand selected ales, cocktails, wines and soft drinks, with help from the venue’s knowledgeable staff.

Managed by Valor Hospitality Europe, the hotel is also home to rooftop bar, Sky Lounge, which also underwent a major refurbishment last year. The 13th floor venue offers metropolitan glamour and elegance, with an outdoor terrace and unrivaled views of the city.

Martin Vann, general manager at the DoubleTree by Hilton Leeds, said: “The Lock Kitchen & Bar is all about creating a warm, friendly environment, where guests can while away the hours chatting with friends and family over homely food.

“The Lock’s new look and fresh menu has completely transformed the space. The inviting atmosphere, along with the rich heritage and character of the surrounding area, makes The Lock a unique experience whether you’re visiting Leeds for the first time or local looking for something new.”

Brian McCarthy, managing director of Valor Hospitality Europe, said: “It’s been a great two years for Valor, with all 17 of our hotels benefiting from significant investment.

“We relaunched the Sky Lounge at the DoubleTree by Hilton Leeds last year which was really successful but we wanted to offer guests an alternative dining experience through the ground floor restaurant. By making this long-term investment in the food and drink offering, we’re confident the hotel will continue to boost the visitor economy in the city.

“We’ve been working exclusively with one hotel owner to date, but we are interested in talking to other hotel investors to expand and improve our portfolio further.”

Valor Hospitality Europe has been operational in the UK for two years and manages 17 properties in its UK portfolio on behalf of investment vehicles affiliated with MCAP Global Finance Ltd.
