When it comes to ‘waste not, want not’ many companies don’t know who to trust when it comes to waste disposal and recycling, or what machine to buy or rent to reduce waste ratios or who to contact in the first place. Compact and Bale Ltd are a specialist, waste management company covering the collection, treatment and recycling of waste materials as well being the UK agent for compaction machinery from Strautmann, Gillard, L&M, KBM and Packmat . As a registered waste carrier they provide low cost commercial waste collection services from wheelie bins and skips to on-site compactors and baled loads.
They service many shopping centres, logistics companies, warehouses, retailers, offices, chains, food companies, factories and more across the UK. By recommending the best waste management services and recycling options for organisations they help to increase recycling rates, save transport costs, maximise revenues and improve operations. Denise Wilton, Managing Director at Compact & Bale explained their 3 Step Process to good waste management:
Step 1. Before
Using our considerable experience in managing waste, we will help you identify and harvest the value in your waste. For many businesses, if dealt with correctly, waste can literally become free money given to them by their suppliers.
We believe that money saved is far more valuable than money earned. If you can save it, you already earned it, paid tax on it and now you are wasting it. There is another way!
Treating waste as a resource makes both common and financial sense. You wouldn’t throw money away would you? But this is exactly what many businesses do every day.
We will help you to draw your waste map, then to “divide to multiply” (breakdown how you handle waste into the little steps to get a better overall outcome) and finally to write your waste manual. This will be the key to rolling out your new waste system and will identify any big wins, focus your efforts and start yielding results.
Step 2. During
Using our market-leading range of intelligent compaction equipment, together with our complete range of bins, skips and containers, we will help you present your materials in the most valuable, least expensive and most efficient format for collection.
Whatever your individual site needs, we will “do the math” to calculate your exact waste volumes and types and so the least cost solution.
Step 3. After
Our business model is not to sell and run, rather we want to help you get started and then stay the course with you. Every month we collect over 1,500 tonne of all types of waste and recycling. From general waste and baled materials to WEEE waste and metals. We collect the lot.
Where possible our purchase rebates are indexed monthly in arrears to published market indices so you can always be confident in the knowledge that you are receiving the best payment rates for your materials.
Cannon Packing Case Study
After meeting Compact & Bale Ltd. at an exhibition and seeing the Strautmann AutoLoadBaler on the stand, Managing Director Ian Doye wanted to re-evaluate their waste management process so that staff could spend more time on core business.
Cannon bales over 20 tonnes of cardboard per month. The enormous amount of loose boxes were being double handled and the process would take 10-15 minutes per pallet box.
Compact & Bale conducted a thorough waste audit at Cannon which identified that it was labour intensive with their existing Kenburn vertical baler. Compact & Bale’s innovative solution to reduce waste handling costs was to install the AutoLoadBaler, which has a small footprint and lower cost than a horizontal semi-automatic baler. The waste team can now continue without incurring overtime costs on baling.
‘The AutoLoadBaler has really helped streamline our operation. It is a unique machine that has saved us 15 man-hours per week since it was installed, which will mean 800 hours and £8,000 saved per year. With the saving in labour costs and the depreciation draw down on the machine it will have achieved payback in 2 years. We are very happy.’ Director Greg Alder, Cannon Packing and Logistics
