Sopwell House Hosts England Footballers Foundation Charity Event with Comedian Jack Whitehall and Music from James Bay

On Sunday 29 May 2016, Sopwell House rocked St Albans by welcoming the England Football Team for their annual Footballers Foundation Charity Event 2016.

The event was hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall and included music from English singer-songwriter and guitarist, James Bay. Roy Hodgson’s entire squad were in attendance, including Joe Hart, Chris Smalling, James Milner and Gary Cahill as well as the sport’s Brazilian superstar, Pelé. Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville even joined in the musical fun later in the evening by accompanying Bay for a harmony or two.

The England Footballers Foundation, which was founded in 2007, was set up to allow players to donate their match fees and time to good causes. Charities that the foundation has previously supported include Rays of Sunshine children’s charity, The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK and Cancer Research UK.

Director of Sopwell House, Rafi Bejerano said, “We are delighted to have been able to support the England team in celebrating their Footballers Foundation charity event. It was a fantastic evening enjoyed by all.”
