Yorkshire’s only island-based hotel finishes new spa complex

Yorkshire’s only island-based hotel has completed work on a new spa complex after an investment of more than £500,000, with the new offering scheduled to launch on July 7.

Waterton Park Hotel and Walton Hall in Wakefield is celebrating the completion of its new ‘cutting edge’ spa, following a record year for the hotel in 2014/15 when it achieved its best year yet for accommodation revenue. The new addition features a dining area and reception, five treatment rooms plus a full range of Espa treatments.

The four-star hotel currently consists of 65 bedrooms, with 22 bedrooms situated on the island in Walton Hall and 43 located on the main land in Waterton Park Hotel.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post about the new spa development, director of the Waterton Park Hotel, Debbie Taylor, said: “This is a real statement of intent for the hotel – not just the hundreds of thousands of pounds of investment, but also in the quality of this new spa.

“We are one of the only – if not the only – privately owned four star hotels on its own island anywhere in the UK so we need to continually build on what we have and impress our guests.”
Recent investment in green technology has also led to the hotel being awarded the AA Eco Hotel of the Year Award.
