The Hoxton heads to Southwark for third London boutique

Hoxton Hotels has revealed that its next London property will be in Southwark, after planning permission for a new boutique hotel in the area was approved by councillors.

The boutique brand, known for its quirky offering at its establishments in Hoxton and Shoreditch, has partnered with developer Derwent London to create a new 192-bedroom hotel in Blackfriars Road.

Seven-storey Wedge House will be demolished to make way for the new hotel development, which will occupy six floors of a new 14-floor building, while the rest of the space will be earmarked for office-use.

Now councillors have officially given the plans the green light, Soho House will work with Hoxton Hotels on transforming the area. The members’ only club will offer a ground floor restaurant/cafe and a ‘skybar’ on the top floor. The restaurant and skybar will both have public access, a criteria that councillors added before granting planning permission.

Hoxton Hotels already has popular boutique hotels in Holborn and Shoreditch in the capital and is due to launch its first European hotel in Amsterdam in July.

The Hoxton Southwark is scheduled to open in 2018.
