MEET THE HEALTH FOOD PRODUCERS:  FIRST GREEK GASTRONOMY WORKSHOP ONLINE EVENT  22-24 MARCH 2021

With Greece hitting the headlines daily in travel news, there has never been more interest in Greek lifestyle and the first Greek Gastronomy Workshop introducing artisan food and beverage producers to the UK market, will be held between 22-24 March 2021.

The workshop is part of the Greek Alternative Tourism & Gastronomy Workshop series being taken to markets worldwide.

The workshop is actively seeking UK-based retailers, distributors and others to sign up here to meet the Greek suppliers in the latest in a worldwide series to take place in markets that include Belgium, Poland Dubai, Denmark, France, Germany and Russia.

 

The workshop will comprise an introductory session, drinks, 30 top raffle prizes and a total of over 600 one-to-one meetings.

 

The event will run a tourism sector workstream concurrently with the gastronomy sector and 25 regional tourism offices and accommodation providers will also be setting up meetings with the UK travel trade.

This Crete-based company produces olive oil products, vinegars, glazes and dressings.

MINOAN BEE

Winners of a 2020 Great Taste Award, Minoan Bee is a honey company, whose bees roam across the unique biodiversity of the Asterousia Mountains and Mount Dikti in Crete. The combination of sea and mountain, where many endemic herbs and pine thrive provide the honey with a special aroma, intense taste and high nutritional value. They have just launched new tin canisters.

 

The Great Taste team in 2020 said: “This richly coloured honey has a velvety texture, robust herbal aroma and lingering flavour. A caramel sweetness is the perfect foil for slightly medicinal thyme notes.”

 

MINOS WINES

MINOS Wines are over 80 years old yet use the most modern methods to produce wines from indigenous Crete varieties such as Kotsifali and Mandilari for the reds, Vilana, Vidiano and Thrapsathiri for the whites as well as foreign varieties. Reds are matured in French oak barrels. Having developed its own private vineyard, the company also co-operates with local growers too to ensure high quality grapes. Producing up to 400,000 bottles a year, 70% of which is consumed on the island, 15% across Greece and the rest exported.

 

PAPADEAS

In 1975 Papadeas Panayiotis began producing vinegar in wooden barrels from the vineyards of the Peloponnese. Today this innovative family-run business has 50 different products within five different product lines: traditional and original wine vinegars; the herbals; balsamic vinegar; balsamic cream and balsamic pearls.

Panos Papadeas, said: “The British market love Greek products. The latest development we had for the British market, has been a direct partnership with Amazon UK and our products were ‘Amazon Choice’ of the month within the last two years.”

PHYTOSOPHIA

Three siblings from northern Greece pivoted their parents’ farm from growing crops to organic herbs and aromatic plants. Their harvests have provided produce to build a successful wellness company, which is now launching a new range of herbal teas blended from herbs and enriched with organic citrus peel.

“These original recipes will give pleasure and benefit to the body, thanks to unique properties. Consumers can choose from three tea groups: enhancement of your mood; stimulation of your body or support of your health.” says co-founder Thalia Karafylli.

Having traded in the international olive oil market, Stelman Trade Ltd has progressed to include more high added-value products and services including packaged (branded) products and new commercial services.

 

TRIPODAKIS

Over a century old, Tripodakis winery and vineyard uses traditional vinification methods and wooden barrels for wine and high quality grape products including vinegars, natural sweeteners such as grape molasses and raisin syrup.
