Steve Penny appointed as Head Pastry Chef at Lancaster London

Lancaster London, the iconic hotel overlooking Hyde Park, has appointed Steve Penny as its new Head Pastry Chef.

In his new role, Steve will oversee the excellent Pastry Department which encompasses a team of six within their own specialist kitchen. This busy kitchen brigade is responsible for creating the bread, pastries and desserts for the entire 411 bedroom hotel, which can cater for up to 3,000 guests at any one time.

As Lancaster London is renowned for its ARTea Afternoon Tea, Steve is looking forward to continuing this success by further developing the creative offerings from the pastry kitchen.

Originally from Wellington, New Zealand, Steve moved to the UK nearly 12 years ago. His most recent position was at the Albion Cafe within The Boundary Hotel in Shoreditch, where he worked as Head Pastry Chef for almost two years.

Prior to this, Steve worked at Simpsons-in-the-Strand for six years where he commenced as Demi Chef de Partie and progressed to Junior Sous Chef.

Steve is excited about creating a specialist Wimbledon ARTea Afternoon Tea to showcase his unique talents. He is very technical and loves working with both sugar and chocolate from around the world.
