Adagio has unveiled its latest aparthotel, Adagio Glasgow Central, which opened on 1 December on the banks of the river Clyde. The contemporary hotel design is inspired by Glasgow’s industrial history and aims to provide a relaxed and affordable stay for couples, families and business travellers, with apartments from just £56 per night.
Located in the heart of the city, Adagio Glasgow Central is just a five-minute walk from both Glasgow Central station and St Enoch’s underground station, and shoppers can enjoy Scotland’s style capital on its doorstep, with Argyle Street and Princes Square in walking distance. Nearby to Glasgow’s international business district, the location is perfect for business travel.
Featuring 162 rooms – all with fully-equipped kitchens with dishwashers, coffee makers, kettles, crockery and cooking utensils – this pet-friendly aparthotel offers a gym, laundry room, a library of objects and table football, plus Adagio’s famous guest library – ideal for short and long-term stays. Guests can also opt for a continental breakfast and the hotel reception is open 24 hours a day.
The design of Adagio Glasgow Central is a nod to the industrial shipbuilders, with signal flags and nautical art and décor, plus the majority of furniture and finishes used are British made, including expertly crafted fabrics from the Isle of Bute in the Firth of Clyde.
In keeping with the hotel’s artistic design, Adagio Glasgow Central will collaborate with final year students from the prestigious BA (Hons) Textile Design course at The Glasgow School of Art. Students will be challenged to create their own version of the iconic rose with was designed by Glaswegian designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh and adopted by the city. Three winning designs will be selected and displayed within the aparthotel for guests to enjoy and to be reminded of the local art culture.
The opening of Glasgow Central will be Adagio’s 8th property in the UK, and its second venture in Scotland, following the success of Adagio Royal Mile in Edinburgh, which opened in 2017.
