Highly anticipated new hotel brand Explorar Hotels & Resorts is proud to announce its latest signing, Explorar Treehouses El Nido in the Philippines. Slated to open on Palawan Island in 2024, Explorar Treehouses El Nido is the second property to join Explorar Hotels & Resorts in the last five months, fuelling its nascent reputation as one of Asia’s fastest-growing and most exciting new hotel brands.
Explorar Treehouses El Nido will comprise 65 treehouse villas with private plunge pools surrounded by 360-degree untouched, lush mountain terrain overlooking shimmering sea views. The resort will feature a permaculture farm and garden; ‘The Exchange’, a signature bar and social space for guests to connect which is unique to the Explorar brand; along with Spa and wellness facilities utilising local and natural products. The resort is also conveniently nestled beside sister brand The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts’ El Nido Palawan Island resort, where guests will enjoy full access to exceptional facilities including an adventure park, water sports centre, waterfalls and adventure walks, and unique dining experiences.
Award-winning artist and designer John Underwood and his son Zac, from Underwood Phuket, lead the design team for Explorar Treehouses El Nido. Renowned for their spectacular collaborations on The Slate, Phuket; Four Seasons Chiang Mai; and Four Seasons Chiang Rai, to name a few, their sustainable and upcycled materials policy unites with the ethos of the Explorar brand.
“We’re thrilled to be working with The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts group again on this new development; Explorar Treehouses El Nido will be a unique offering for guests and complement The Pavilions El Nido Palawan Island, which is located next door.” said the developer, Rick Lee, CEO of Eureka Resorts Inc.
“I am excited by the uniqueness of this treehouse concept on Palawan island, which I believe will become an iconic El Nido resort. This continues our growth and the exciting development of our new brand in the region and shows that its’ experience-driven and social travel ethos is key in this new travel era we are in.” explained Scot Toon, MD Asia, The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts.
Voted the ‘Best Island in the World’ in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2020, Palawan is the largest island of the province in the Philippines. It is home to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which was also named one of the New7Wonders of Nature in 2012.
Recently launched with its first resort, Explorar Pawapi Koh Mook, Explorar Hotels & Resorts seeks to develop within Asia and Europe, offering four innovative themes depending on the hotels’ location and unique experiences. Beach, Eco, Cultural and Urban themes unite the brand and offer the traveller clear choices for their individual experience. Opening December 2021, Explorar Pawapi Koh Mook will provide guests with a genuinely untouched, pure island paradise experience, with bungalows and villas located right on the white sandy beach, and an open-air restaurant offering authentic Thai cuisine alongside a ‘feet in the sand’ sunset beach bar.
Meaning ‘Explore’ in Spanish, the name ‘Explorar’ was inspired by the heritage of one of the world’s first great explorers, Christopher Colombus, who first started traversing and uncovering new lands in the 15th century. Explorar Hotels & Resorts is aimed at the millennial traveller looking for a light-hearted space in which to socialise, make local connections, and enjoy easy, fun living whilst enjoying a meaningful experience that provides value to the community.
Offering modern day travellers the opportunity to explore and enjoy destinations from a vibrant, comfortable base, the Explorar crew is central to ensuring they get the most from their stay, utilising their local knowledge to ensure easy access for guests. The crew at each hotel or resort is a small and dynamic team of local experts who will work across multiple areas. The focus is on building relationships with guests and providing insight into the destination, and ensuring a hotel experience that is easy and uncomplicated, where everything is within reach. Explorar will offer hotels and resorts a new vibrant energy; ‘The Exchange’, a social space traditionally dedicated to a lobby or reception, is reinterpreted as somewhere to exchange information, to grab something to eat, a local snack or something more, and to talk about tales of adventures over a cocktail or local brew with other guests or one of Explorars’ crew members.
Focused on creating a community and engaging socially with guests and the world through the website and social media platforms, Explorar hotels’ online Exchange will be an organic forum that will allow guests to interact, gather information and ask questions, from recommendations on other hotels in the group to local restaurants and unique ‘must see’ experiences to discover.
