Fameed Khalique, the leading international supplier of luxury materials, celebrates 15 years of providing creative, innovative showstopping solutions to interior designers and architects. The showroom, on London’s Kings Road, has become synonymous with the supply of the finest surface materials, from cutting edge surfaces, embossed leathers and intricate embroideries to semi-precious stones, marquetry and bespoke woven textiles.
Since 2008, Fameed Khalique has been instrumental in elevating the aesthetic and tactile quality of countless projects across the residential, commercial, marine, aviation and
hospitality sectors globally. Known for his ability to produce designs that transcend conventional boundaries, the studio’s extensive portfolio showcases a commitment to
creativity and excellence, with significant design contributions to iconic residential addresses such as One Hyde Park in Knightsbridge, Chelsea Barracks in Belgravia and 432 Park Avenue in Manhattan. The team is also currently working on hotels globally, such as The Savoy, The Rosewood Chancery, The Dorchester, Waldorf Astoria Vienna, Ritz Carlton Delhi, Four Seasons London, Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, Royal Mansour in Morocco, Fairmont Geneva and many others. To complete his impressive portfolio of works, the studio has worked on many yachts including two of the most iconic built over the past 15 years, Eclipse and Dilbar, the latter being the largest ever bespoke superyacht by gross tonnage.
More recently the studio has been involved in Cunard’s latest vessel to take to the water, the Queen Anne cruise ship, setting sail in May 2024.
This milestone year coincides with Fameed Khalique’s latest collaboration at The Peninsula on Hyde Park Corner, recently opened to much acclaim, which further solidifies the studio’s reputation for contributing to some of the world’s most admired properties. Fameed Khalique supplied the upholstery fabrics, ink-resistant durable leathers for the desktops and gold linen wall coverings in every hotel and dressing room. For the hotel suites, custom-made striped black, white and gold fabric was woven together for the drapery, and hand embroidery for the headboards in key suites such as The Grand Terrace & The Peninsula Suite – the latter also features striking red curtains embellished with gold embroidery.
“We were honoured to be asked by Peter Marino Architect and the procurement team at Argenta Projects to develop many of the fabrics that make up the beautifully designed rooms
and suites at The Peninsula, bringing together the best of British craftsmanship and embellished ornate detailing. Hong Kong Shanghai Hotels provided an impressively detailed set of specifications, reflecting their exacting quality standards. It was the most challenging list of requirements I have encountered for a project. However, in developing and creating all the fabrics from scratch, we learnt an enormous amount that has proved to be incredibly useful on other projects. This is part and parcel of the work that we do daily to ensure that
we provide the most appropriate and practical materials to our clients in line with the desired aesthetic and quality.” comments Fameed.
The studio is also working separately with several interior designers on several the 26 private residences within The Peninsula.
Founded by Fameed Khalique, a visionary with a deep-seated passion for materials, the studio has become a treasure trove for designers seeking unique and high-quality textiles.
Customers can now peruse their collections and material offerings on an easily accessible new website, with the ability to download the latest lookbooks and view previous projects.
The login area which provides access to a more personalised platform where users can create their own mood board in the planning stages of a project has already been well-received and proven popular with long-standing clients.
As Fameed Khalique looks to the future, the studio remains dedicated to inspiring designers and architects by connecting them with a world of innovative and luxurious materials.
The studio’s expertise and global network of artisans and suppliers continue to make the exceptional possible, pushing the boundaries of creativity and design.
