This festive season, The London EDITION will unveil its annual Christmas tree designed by British artist wunderkind Ed Curtis, in collaboration with CHOOSE LOVE. Unveiled in the lobby of The London EDITION on Saturday 20th November, the 18-foot-tall tree has been decorated as a mash-up of hand painted, screen and digital artworks, combined together to create the ultimate festive art attack.
This marks Ed’s first project since his viral collaboration with Stella McCartney in September where he designed a ready-to-wear capsule collection that caught the attention of huge stars including Timothée Chalamet and Dua Lipa.
On his tree design for The London EDITION, Ed said “This will be the Christmas tree of my childhood dreams, I’ll be living my art attack fantasy by dressing this wonderful tree in hand made, hand painted decorations. This will be the most fun Christmas tree you’ve ever seen.”
Providing his touch of doodle-like magic to The London EDITION’s lobby this year, Ed’s design will resemble a particularly larger-than-life take on the traditional Christmas tree, complete with giant presents, smiley faces, stockings and wrapping-paper-esque tinsel.
This year’s tree has been created in collaboration with CHOOSE LOVE, the London-based charity aiming to provide refugees and displaced people with everything from lifesaving search and rescue boats to food and legal advice.
From 20thNovember until the New Year, The London EDITION will be serving their Choose Love cocktail Savoia Le Fizz in the Lobby Bar, with a portion of proceeds going directly to the charity. Guests are also invited to spot the CHOOSE LOVE imagery dotted around the base of the Christmas Tree.
Ed follows an illustrious line of previous Christmas tree collaborators at The London EDITION that includes Luke Edward Hall, Mark Colle, Simon Costin, John Booth and Zoe Bradley. With the Christmas tree at its centre, The London EDITION’s Lobby Bar is the perfect festive destination this winter, featuring a roaring fire, billiards table and intimate seating areas for guests to gather on and celebrate with friends and family.
The Christmas tree will be unveiled in the lobby of the hotel on the morning of Saturday 20th November and will be on display until the New Year.
