Brighton’s hottest new hotel and social space opens this August
Selina, the experience-led hospitality group for the modern nomadic traveller, has opened its third unique property this summer with the launch of Selina Brighton in the heart of the vibrant city centre.
The timely opening offers Brits the ultimate staycation in 2020 and beyond, and boasts spectacular sea views from each of its 31 uniquely designed private rooms, suites and shared rooms. Selina Brighton’s promenade position also provides panoramic ocean vistas from its beachfront restaurant and bar, The Old Pier, from which guests can enjoy a range of delicious starters and sharers, as well as its signature 48h sourdough pizzas.
Surrounded by independent restaurants, boutiques, bars and coffee shops, our boho property is located directly on the waterfront and just a short walk from many of Brighton’s attractions, including the British Airways i360 Tower, the Royal Pavilion and the ever-popular Brighton Pier.
Playful, colourful and just a little bit cheeky, expect the unconventional with a stay at Selina Brighton, with beautifully designed accommodation, excellent food, wellness and local experiences at its heart.
Selina creates an eclectic atmosphere that brings together locals and visitors alike, with Brighton General Manager, Hugo Carvalho commenting: “We’re thrilled to bring our unique Selina concept to one of the most exciting cities in the UK, and in such a thriving and bohemian neighbourhood full of culture, individuality and a place to cultivate hedonism and escape social restrictions. We can’t wait to open our doors and provide a new hub for the Brighton community; a fairground for daring and unadulterated fun.”
ROOMS
Designed to reflect Brighton’s ocean-front location and the city’s creative spirit, interior designer Tola Ojuolape collaborated closely with Selina’s workshop team, using materials that represent and embrace the community. Each of the rooms has been given a quirky and whimsical twist, offering something new and unique to the accommodation sector in the city.
August will see 31 rooms available in total in a range of categories including lofts, suites, family rooms that accommodate up to four, standard and micro-sized double rooms, with a further 19 opening in 2021 including shared community rooms which fit up to six guests. Prices range from £50 – £350, depending on the room category chosen, and all offer stunning ocean views.
SOCIAL SPACES
Social spaces are inherent in each of its properties, and Selina will be hosting specially curated programming, engaging workshops and unique pop-ups throughout the year in its Brighton property that are in-line with new social distancing guidelines.
The Old Pier is set to become a Brighton favourite, serving a range of delicious dishes with a side of sea views, including sourdough focaccia with whipped burrata and fermented honey, Mexican style cactus salad and mac’n’cheese croquettes with truffle mayo. The restaurant’s signature 48h sourdough pizzas are also set to become local classics, with the likes of The Poseidon, made with charcoal pizza dough, tomato base, diced chorizo, fried octopus and fresh rocket, as well as The Dungeon, made with charcoal pizza dough, vegan mozzarella, grated chilli seitan, red peppers and crushed green chillies. Over the coming months, The Old Pier will also expand the menu further to include salmon sashimi poke bowls, Bajan style fish tacos and beef and vegan burgers.
Breakfast and brunch lovers will also be impressed with the restaurant’s daytime offering; alongside morning staples including The Benedict made with eggs or tofu and The Pirate, made with eggs or tofu plus Pico de Gallo, queso fresco, soft corn tortillas, sliced avocado and coriander, guests can also enjoy croissants stuffed with mushrooms, spinach, thyme, gruyere & béchamel and either waffles with Dulce de leche filling, red ricotta mousse and berries or The Caribbean Waffle, made with roasted pineapple whipped ricotta, agave and almonds. Each delicious dish can be washed down with The Old Pier’s selection of juices, smoothies, iced teas and hot drinks, as well as classic breakfast cocktails including Bloody Marys, Bellinis and Espresso Martinis.
The stylish lobby area will also be an exciting social space for guests and locals alike, offering a grab and go coffee shop for your morning pick-me-up, as well as a sizable retail space selling products from local brands.
A co-working space will also be launching for locals to use as a community hub with artwork created and curated by local artist Amy Isles Freeman, whose work themes around female sexuality, freedom and joy.
LOCAL AREA
Located on Brighton’s idyllic seafront, Selina’s latest opening sits amongst a vibrant hub of boutique shops, cafes, bars and attractions, and overlooks the iconic West Pier as well as the i360 British Airways Tower.
