RoomersFrankfurt, the sophisticated, urban boutique hotel by Germany’s leading hospitality brand Gekko Group, has today unveiled its new restaurant Burbank in collaboration with Vietnamese-born chef, The Duc Ngo.
Following three successful
restaurants together: moriki Frankfurt, moriki Roomers Baden-Baden and the Golden Phoenix in
Berlin, founders Micky Rosen and Alex Urseanu are pleased to partner once again with the
contemporary chef at Roomers in Gutleutstrasse, Frankfurt.
The Duc Ngo’s Sake Aburi
Much inspired by the multicultural cuisine of the United States, The Duc Ngo’s dishes are
aromatic and tasteful concoctions to be enjoyed within a beautiful upscale environment. Signature dishes span from new-style sashimi, to Cajun octopus, cheese udon noodles,
Mexican-inspired filet mignon, Korean tataki, Thai salads and ceviche. Ngo’s fanciful
concoctions have made him one of Berlin’s most in demand chefs, bringing creativity to the
once staid German dining scene.
“I’m a big fan of the multicultural food culture in the USA. It is simply spectacular how you can
bring American and Asian cuisine together to create real taste explosions,”
says The Duc Ngo about the concept behind Burbank.
The Duc Ngo’s Colombo Lamb Chops
Similar to all restaurants by The Duc Ngo, the space was designed by Hyunjung Kim, Ngo’s
friend, business partner, muse and teacher in art and design. Light wood tables and upholstered
seating mix with deep green granite surfaces and a contrasting dove blue and desert orange
colour palette. Grand, silver mesh light fixtures create an elegant ambiance, casting soft lighting
across the restaurant. Diners will notice a new, open salad and seafood bar amongst some
remaining elements from the previous space, such as the dark golden velvet furnishings and
Ngo’s highly committed team, welcoming both old and new guests to the rejuvenated
restaurant. A tribute to The Duc Ngo’s Chinese zodiac, the Burbank logo adorns a Chinese tiger
believed to embody sensitivity and profundity behind his combative temperament – elements all
conveyed through the delicate yet flavoursome cuisine and rich, abundant design

Redefining sushi culture, The Duc Ngo opened his first restaurant Kuchi at the age of 24 in Berlin in 1999.Despite no formal training as a chef, Ngo runs some of Berlin’s most popular restaurants and often combines different cuisines to create
unique and inventive dishes like no other.
Together with Micky Rosen and Alex Urseanu of Gekko Group, The Duc Ngo opened his first project outside of Berlin in July 2013: moriki. Located in the towers of Deutsche Bank, the restaurant was dubbed ‘the place to be in Frankfurt’ by The New York Times. This was followed by the joint opening of the second moriki in Roomers Baden-Baden and a year later, the Golden
Phoenix in Berlin, in addition to contemporary concepts Madame Ngo, Funky Fisch, 893 Ryōtei,
