REDONDO BEACH, Calif, (November 5, 2019) – The Portofino Hotel & Marina, a Noble House Hotel in Redondo Beach, California, today announced three leadership and management appointments to help launch a new chapter of the stunning ocean-side property: Jeff Perkins as general manager, Darin Matsuda as hotel manager, and Riley Eastman as director of food and beverage outlets. Boasting stunning views of the marina and Southern California coastline and offering newly-renovated indoor and outdoor facilities, distinctive dining and tailored guest service, the Portofino Hotel & Marina offers the quintessentially chic “SoCal” experience.

“We are delighted with the additions to our leadership team and their demonstrated ability to elevate The Portofino to the next level,” said Regional Director of Marketing at Noble House Hotels & Resorts Tracee Cahill, “Each brings an impressive amount of experience and industry know-how as well as a familiarity with this market that will help differentiate The Portofino from other Southern California destinations.”

Leading the Portofino team as general manager is Jeff Perkins, a hospitality veteran with 25 years of experience. Perkins is especially experienced at managing hotels through multi-million-dollar renovations. He was previously the general manager of the Queen Kapiolani Hotel in Waikiki, where he oversaw the relaunch of the hotel through a $30 million transformation from a 2-star to a 4-star property. He also served as hotel manager at The Kahala Hotel & Resort as well as the Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu’s North Shore during their multi-million-dollar renovation. Perkins’ extensive career has also taken him to positions with top hospitality brands around the world, including The Ritz Carlton in Puerto Rico and Hawaii, The St. Regis in Puerto Rico, and the world famous Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, CA.

Overseeing the management of the hotel and its staff will be Darin Matsuda who brings more than 15 years of industry experience to his new role as hotel manager at The Portofino Hotel & Marina. Matsuda most recently was the director of operations at Hotel Oceana in Santa Monica, CA where he was tasked with the managing of rooms and the food and beverage processes. Additionally, he was the assistant director of The Garland Hotel in North Hollywood, an iconic boutique hotel. Earlier in his career, Matsuda also served as the transportation manager at the Aria SkySuites and Aria Casino and Resort in Las Vegas, NV supervising a team of limousine chauffeurs and other support staff.

Riley Eastman, currently associate director of food & beverage outlets at The Portofino, has moved into the role of director of food & beverage outlets. A seasoned food & beverage professional, Eastman launched his career in 2009 at Terranea Resort where he worked as a server for Catalina Kitchen and Mar’sel.  He first arrived at The Portofino as a bartender and server at BALEEN Kitchen, the hotel’s signature on-site restaurant. He was quickly promoted to food & beverage supervisor, and worked at the hotel for six years. He left briefly to become restaurant manager at Sea Level @ Shade, a craft kitchen in the luxury Shade Hotel in Redondo Beach before he returned to The Portofino as food & beverage manager in December 2017.

Nestled in a private Redondo Beach peninsula near Hermosa Beach, the Portofino Hotel & Marina offers a selection of guest rooms, studios and new luxury suites with private balconies offering stunning Pacific and marina harbor views. The Portofino recently completed a multi-million-dollar renovation of its guest rooms and amenities, as well as a fully-renovated 8000-square foot freestanding Conference Center. Guest amenities include a state-of-the-art fitness center and heated pool overlooking the ocean. Portofino is also home to the iconic BALEENKitchen, a highly-acclaimed destination restaurant and local favorite overlooking the harbor; as well as the Living Room, a delightfully oversized living room with dramatic coastal views, a marble fireplace and several seating areas to enjoy cocktails and nibbles.
