Luxury boutique hotel brand Hotel du Vin today announces the appointment of Benjamin Bel as the new General Manager of Hotel du Vin Edinburgh.
Benjamin has over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality and catering industry, and is already familiar with the Malmaison Hotel du Vin group, having spent the last two years as General Manager at Malmaison Aberdeen.Situated within Edinburgh’s Old Town, just a stone’s throw away from the famous Castle, Hotel du Vin Edinburgh oozes character and charm. Originally a poorhouse, then an 18th century asylum, and then a science lab, the building is now a beautiful boutique hotel with 47 distinct rooms and suites. Whether it’s relaxing with a glass of wine from the hotel’s extensive cellar after a long day sightseeing or dining al fresco in the pretty courtyard, this hotel has something for everyone.
Benjamin commented, “Having worked in Scotland for nearly 10 years, I’m very excited to now be moving to the capital of this beautiful country. The hotel already has a great reputation and relationship with the local community – it is one of the many things that drew me to it, and is something the team and I will continue to build on.”
He added, “One of my first tasks has been working with our brilliant Head Chef, Johnathan Edgar, to implement the new menu. It has a greater focus on more classic Bistro dishes, and I’m really excited for our guests to try it – the cassoulet, with confit duck and smoked Toulouse sausage, is a personal favourite.”
Nick Halliday, Chief Executive Officer of Hotel du Vin, commented, “With Benjamin’s great work at Malmaison, his growing reputation within the group and extensive experience, I am delighted to have him at Hotel du Vin, and look forward to building on the success of the hotel.”
