Starboard Hotels has announced the acquisition of its first hotel in Scotland as part of ongoing expansion plans.
The 71-bedroom Holiday Inn Express Greenock is the group’s second purchase since the start of the year, following its acquisition of the 58-bedroom Best Western Carlton Hotel in Blackpool last month.
The group said that it is still actively looking for new UK hotels and sites as it plans for further expansion throughout the year.
Paul Callingham, managing director of Starboard Hotels, said: “We are delighted to be expanding the Starboard portfolio. Scotland’s tourism industry has also been consistently strong, with the volume of trips and spend increasing year-on-year. Our appetite for growth remains strong in other major UK cities too.
“The Greenock property is in a popular location, on the Clyde Coast, and it holds a high reputation amongst its guests. We believe we can add significant value to Greenock’s hospitality offering and we look forward to exploring our options in Scotland.”
In line with its expansion, Starboard is set to undergo a rebrand, including a new logo for the company. Callingham added: “We’re moving into a very exciting period with new opportunities taking us all over the UK which is why we will also strengthen our company’s philosophy through a brand makeover.”
