- Refurbished property launches post £1million investment
- Boutique townhouse hotel inspired by its Bruntsfield location
- New secret garden, restaurant & bar concept – The Neighbourhood
From January 2022, The Bruntsfield opens its doors as Edinburgh’s newest independent hotel following a £1million investment. Built in 1861, The Bruntsfield was formerly three connecting stately homes, now bringing homely Scottish hospitality to this classic boutique townhouse hotel.
The Brunstfield’s General Manager, Alistair Bruce comments:
“Guests will feel as though they are being welcomed into our home when they arrive at The Bruntsfield. Our extensive refurbishment is inspired by our heritage and our neighbourhood, located in the centre of Bruntsfield itself, with a truly Scottish feel and is perfectly located for both leisure and business breaks in the city.”
The Bruntsfield (previously Best Western Plus Bruntsfield Hotel) was bought by Castleforge Partners in May 2021 – a leading UK-based private real estate investor. In September 2021, the owners appointed new management company Axiom Hospitality founded in 2020 to refurbish, reposition and operate the property. The Bruntsfield is the second hotel Axiom has de-flagged to be completely independent, following The Dilly in London, opened in May 2021. The Bruntsfield will also be affiliated with World Hotels, a collection of the finest independent hotels in 200 iconic destinations worldwide.
Alex Pritchard, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Axiom Hospitality adds:
“After the past two years, we’ve noticed guests wanting to explore more than ever before. Therefore, we’re delighted to be able to launch The Bruntsfield at this time, providing travellers with a homely base to discover the city of Edinburgh, along with personalised and friendly service.”
The 72-bedroom hotel is within walking distance of Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile and Princes Street Gardens. Overlooking Bruntsfield Links and Meadows, The Bruntsfield has been designed by Aspinall Creative Design Consultants. The look and feel of the new guest rooms are bright and colourful with personal touches such as crafted bathroom amenities by Beekind, which supports honeybees and sustainable pollination research, and bespoke artwork supplied by Elegant Clutter.
Hotel breakfasts will be served at The Neighbourhood l Kitchen – Bar – Garden. True to its name, the new restaurant will partner with local businesses and suppliers wherever possible, including in delivering a truly Scottish breakfast and brunch.
The Neighbourhoodwas conceived as Edinburgh’s first creative working hub for business guests and local professionals. By day, the destination is a relaxed working environment away from home with excellent WiFi and endless coffee and tea throughout the day. It is also pet friendly, attracting dogwalkers with water bowls and dog treats dotted around the heated secret garden.
At weekends, The Neighbourhood will be transformed into a family friendly space with a new children’s menu designed to be both healthy and educational, as well as board games and toys. The Neighbourhood also offers an excellent brunch, with options to include prosecco, mimosas or bloody marys to accompany your dish.
The Bruntsfield also has two spaces suitable for business meetings and events for up to 60 people and weddings for up to 100 people with a dedicated wedding co-ordinator.
Room rates start from £75 without breakfast (breakfast is an additional £14.50 per person). Please see www.thebruntsfield.co.uk or follow Facebook or Instagram.
