Temel Will Oversee All Restaurant Operations and Continue as Certified Sommelier
SEATTLE (November 21, 2019) – The Edgewater, an iconic Noble House property and Seattle’s only over-water hotel, today announced the promotion of Volkan Temel to general manager of Six Seven, the hotel’s signature restaurant. Temel brings 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry and a strong familiarity with Six Seven to the role, where he will oversee all operations, staff and continue as a certified sommelier for the restaurant.
“Volkan has been an integral member of the Six Seven family for years and continues to exceed guests’ expectations while expertly managing his team,” said Scott Colee, chief marketing and creative officer for Noble House Hotels & Resorts. “We’re thrilled he will be overseeing the entire restaurant and bringing his extensive knowledge of hospitality, wine and dining to the position.”
Temel developed a passion for hospitality after growing up in Istanbul, Turkey, which has a rich history of hospitality traditions dating back centuries, inspiring him to pursue a career in catering, tourism and hotel management. He worked and thrived in the industry from a young age, learning the intricacies of fine dining restaurants through internships, his time as an exchange student in Hungary and at the Istanbul University, where he earned a degree in hotel management. After college, Temel joined the Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort and Spa team in Florida, honing his managerial techniques and working his way up from a server to assistant beverage manager. His experience and leadership skills resulted in another promotion to restaurant manager.
Temel continued his career in Florida at the Fiddlers Creek Club & Spa, a prestigious country club in Naples, as the property’s food and beverage manager. In addition to supervising the restaurant’s culinary program, he developed an interest in the wine industry, leading him to explore options outside of Florida. Temel then moved to Seattle, joined Six Seven as a restaurant manager, and became a certified sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers.
Situated on Pier 67 inside The Edgewater, Six Seven effortlessly blends stunning waterfront views, a historical and cultural foundation, award-winning fare by Executive Chef Jesse Souza, and a menu comprised of the freshest, organic local produce, meat and seafood from around the Pacific Northwest. Featuring a seasonal outdoor patio with dramatic views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains, Six Seven is also perfect for al fresco dining and drinks on the over-water deck during warm months. Temel oversees the restaurant’s extensive wine list, which presents selections from around the world, including the Americas, Europe and New Zealand, and a selection of favorite Champagnes and sparkling wines perfect for toasting celebrations. Pacific Northwest wines hailing from Oregon and Washington are prominently represented on the wine list as well.
