16 October 2019…// DUKES LONDON is delighted to announce that its Hotel Operations Manager, Samantha Rieu, had a hugely successful night at The Independent Hotel Show Awards 2019, winning a new award category launched by Master Innholders, ‘GM of the Future’. The ceremony took place yesterday evening, Tuesday 15th October, at Olympia London and saw the hospitality industry’s brightest stars came together to celebrate the passionate and innovative individuals behind some of the UK’s biggest names.
GM of the Future entries were judged by a panel of Master Innholders and previous aspiring leader students. Alongside the new GM of the Future Award, the Independent Hotel Show celebrated the hotel sector’s most pioneering, independently spirited hoteliers and the most innovative, dynamic hotels.
‘My passion for the hospitality industry started from the age of 15’, says Rieu. ‘During my career, I have developed my experience and passion for management working in various departments within operations in 5-star luxury properties such as Fairmont, The Savoy Hotel, Harvey Nichols, Mandarin Oriental and now at DUKES LONDON as Hotel Operations Manager. My vision at DUKES has been to continue to drive success to the hotel by increasing revenues, improving trip advisor ratings, and keep driving our apprenticeship program to train and educate our employees further’. Rieu continues, ‘my goal is to become a GM of one of the top 10 hotels in London’.
Rieu has been at DUKES LONDON for two years and has always shown loyalty to the hotel, constantly gaining recognition amongst peers. Her example leads the way for graduates and trainees alike who have long considered leading careers in the hospitality industry.
