Govert Deketh has taken the helm of London Marriott Hotel County Hall just prior to the completion of its major refurbishment and relaunch. The iconic 206 room London hotel is due to fully reopen in November 2016 and has been transformed during a year-long extensive renovation programme which has combined the historic beauty of the building and the very best in contemporary hotel design.
Govert Deketh joins London Marriott County Hall from a two year period as general manager of the Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club where he oversaw increases in both RevPAR and staff engagement.
Govert graduated with degree in hotel management from Ecole Hotelière de Lausanne in Switzerland and joined the Marriott group in 1996 as director of food and beverage at Portsmouth Marriott. Notable achievements in his career include winning “Dubai’s Favourite International Specialty Restaurant 2002” as director of operations at the Renaissance Dubai Hotel, founding the Manchester Marriott Business Council as general manager at the Renaissance Manchester. Govert is bilingual in English and French, as well as being fluent in German and Dutch.
“I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead the London Marriott County Hall at such an exciting moment in the hotel’s history,” said Govert. “This grand dame of British hotels has been lovingly restored and absolutely epitomises classic British style, energy and modernity. It is now my mission and pleasure to relaunch London Marriott County Hall to the world, explaining our central prime location with the best views over London, mouth-watering Gillray’s Steakhouse Restaurant and Bar, sleekly efficient modernised new meeting spaces and superb staff.”
