Bank Holiday Easter Roundup

With Easter weekend around the corner, London is the perfect place to spend the bank holiday break.  We’ve scouted out the most egg-ssential stops around the capital this Easter weekend.

Good Friday in Marble Arch

Kick off Easter weekend by treating your little chicks to a cracking break at The Arch London. The hotel has devised the ultimate family package starting at £390 per night. Young children dine complimentary during their stay and all the family can indulge on a complimentary breakfast in the morning. Why not sample the hotel’s Easter Menu, which is served in the glamorous setting of the hotel’s Hunter 486 restaurant.

Easter Saturday in Shepherd’s Bush

With pay day approaching, spend Saturday morning blowing the budget in London’s prime shopping destination, Westfield. There’s still time to pick up some last minute Easter pressies such as the wonderfully unique Chocolate Eggs and Soldiers from Hotel Chocolat!

In the afternoon, take a short walk to K West Hotel & Spa to sample Studio Kitchen’s famed Crème Egg Burger. The mini slider burger’s sweet brioche bun is dipped in white chocolate and sandwiches the ‘burger’ – a gooey melted crème egg, encased in golden batter. The Spring Rocks Afternoon Tea also includes other tempting treats such as Mini Donuts and the Daim Dog.

 Easter Sunday in Hyde Park

With the sun set to be shining, what better way to spend Easter Sunday than to pay a visit to Hyde Park? Explore the largest of London’s Royal Park’s by setting up an Easter egg hunt for all the family.

After a morning in the fresh air, stroll across the road to Lancaster London’s sumptuous first floor Lounge Bar and try the hotel’s Easter Afternoon Tea menu. The ingenious Hot Cross Scones and Lamb Scotch Eggs are particular highlights!

 Easter Monday at home

Finish off the weekend by spending the bank holiday relaxing at home. We suggest inviting friends over and taking some tips from Jersey’s Bohemia restaurant’s Head Pastry Chef Ellen de Jager on how to use all those leftover Easter eggs. NB: Not suitable for the calorie shy!

  1. Chocolate Croissants

One for the chocoholics! Make or buy readymade croissant dough and stuff with leftover Creme or Caramel eggs.  Once baked you’ll have warm croissants oozing with chocolate.

  1. Chocolate Mug Cake

To fix that chocolate craving, melt butter and chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds. Beat the mixture until soft then whisk in with egg, sugar, flour and baking powder then microwave for one minute and 20 seconds.

  1. Crème Egg Brownies or Cupcakes

Add left over crème eggs to cupcake or brownie mix for a gooey chocolate centre. Perfect for the ultimate chocolate lover and a great alternative to traditional Simnel cake.
