Lumiscopic unveils new exclusive Dichroic Lighting Collection

An exclusive new Lighting Collection featuring Dichroic Film from 3M, the science-based technology company, has been created by Lumiscopic, a surface design company specialising in creating bespoke illuminated surfaces with light responsive materials.

Inspired by light, Lisa Alcock, designer and owner of Lumiscopic has been using Dichroic Film from 3M since 2014, to create dramatic and eye-catching light responsive surfaces that change colour dependent on the viewing angle, projecting a vibrant spectrum of warm or cool coloured light.

Lisa Alcock says, “I have been working with Dichroic Film from 3M for a few years now and it has inspired me to create amazing effects with my artwork that might not have otherwise been possible. The aim of my exclusive collection is to produce a wow effect – stopping passers-by in their tracks, and generating an energising and uplifting ambience.”

Available in two versions, the Dichroic Glass Finishes DF-PA Blaze shift from the warm tones of cyan, blue and magenta to red and gold, and the Dichroic Glass Finishes DF-PA Chill change colours from the transmissive cool tones of blue, magenta and yellow to the reflective colours gold and blue. The Dichroic Films from 3M can be applied to glass, plastic or acrylic surfaces as a visual opaque or decorative graphic and the colours seen by the viewer – from either side of the glass surface – are influenced by the environment, lighting, viewing angle and mounting surface colour.

Lisa Alcock added, “I am continually finding new and innovative ways to utilise the films in our projects which include a variety of surfaces from feature wall panels, large-scale lighting panels, worktops and shelving to furniture. The wonderful light and colour effects the films produce are truly amazing and if the design needs to be changed, the films can be easily removed without any damage to the original surface.”
