This September, W Hotels Worldwide will unveil its Dutch debut when the highly anticipated W Amsterdam opens its doors. The arrival of this contemporary design-led lifestyle brand is set to re-energize the Dutch capital with its innovative design, signature services and diverse beverage and food offerings.
Set across two iconic buildings, W Amsterdam will unfold a new scene with three distinctive destinations where guests can mix and mingle while enjoying delectable, innovative cuisine and drinks. The rooftop W Lounge will offer signature cocktails alongside stunning views and pulsating music. THE DUCHESS and MR PORTER by The Entourage Group,present effortlessly elegant yet indulgent gastronomic experiences, setting new hospitality standards in the Dutch capital.
W’s reinterpretation of the traditional lobby, W Lounge, is the first stop for all arriving guests at the hotel. Located on the sixth floor of the Exchange building, W Lounge will be at the heart of the hotel with unparalleled 360-degree views over the city. Inviting guests to experience what’s new and next in the world of mixology, W Lounge will feature an original menu specially created by the dynamic Fabulous Shaker Boys. From the ‘I W Amsterdam’ made with Bols genever, lemon juice, honey syrup, raspberries and egg white, to the ‘Coco & Co’ with Ketel One vodka, fresh espresso, Kahlua and coconut foam, the diverse selection of cocktails will help guests relax and recharge. Enjoyed against a backdrop of the latest sounds from international DJ’s carefully chosen by W Amsterdam’s Music Curator, Kristina Dolgova, the electric atmosphere will make W Lounge the hottest place to see and be seen in the Dutch capital.
Bold gold lines printed on the windows of the W Lounge and over 5km of copper pipes pay tribute to the telephone wires and electricity lines that exchanged information on a daily basis when the building was home to the Royal Dutch Post Building. Working to connect visitors to the history and culture as well as the new vibrant social scene in Amsterdam, W Lounge will feature a distinctive set of stairs that flow into the bar and echo the iconic steps of Dam Square on the streets below.
Alongside W Lounge, the Exchange building is home to MR PORTER which will offer a cutting edge, rooftop-dining experience. Pushing the boundaries of traditional dining, MR PORTER will blend incredible flavours and world-class service with a dynamic ambiance and bold, open kitchen. Breathing a new lease of life into the already eclectic Dutch dining scene, MR PORTER will present an indulgent menu from which guests will get to savour gastronomic creations.
W Amsterdam also hosts THE DUCHESS which opened on June 25. Bringing a taste of London heritage and Viennese grandeur to Amsterdam, THE DUCHESS graces the city with effortlessly elegant dining, lunch and afternoon tea menus and a wide selection of vermouths, cocktails and champagnes. Blending the subtle flavours of Southern France and Italy, THE DUCHESS’ refined Nouveau-Nicoise cuisine menu includes eclectic classics with fresh twists such as Fruit De Mer Risotto with Caramelized Onion, Quinoa and Pomegranate Salad, Foie Gras Donuts with Fig Jam and Sicilian Lemon Pie with Citrus Salad. Residing in the historic former KAS Bank building, the restaurant retains a sense of heritage and charm with its high ceilings and original fixtures, creating a luxurious yet contemporary setting.
THE DUCHESS is already making a statement in the culinary scene since it launched, while W Lounge and MR PORTER are set to open in September when W Amsterdam makes its debut.
