Autumn is a fruitful time for the architecture, hospitality and design industries with global festivals such as the
World Architecture Festival and Sleep & Eat attracting thousands of industry professionals. This month also
sees the return of two regional AHEAD Awards ceremonies, taking place in Dubai for the MEA region and
London for Europe. The prestigious Awards for Hospitality Experience and Design celebrates the most
outstanding new hospitality projects in each region.
As a leading supplier to the hospitality industry, GROHE is specified in some of the most prestigious hotel
projects across the globe and is seeking to change the face of hotel design with some of its most ground-
breaking innovations to date. It invests heavily in the hospitality sector and has been the Global Founder
Sponsor of the AHEAD Awards since its inception. At each regional event, GROHE also presents what is perhaps
the most celebrated award of the ceremony, the AHEAD Hotel of the Year award. The winning project provides
a ‘best in practice’ demonstration of how the use of architecture and design can be expertly intertwined to
create an outstanding customer experience.
For 2019’s awards, an impressive total of 11 properties in the shortlist feature collaborations with GROHE. The
competition for the AHEAD Europe Hotel of the Year Award is tougher than ever with the award scheme
receiving an unprecedented number of entries. There are approximately 60 finalists for the European region
with contenders for the top prize including the likes of Switzerland’s Hide Hotel, a hotel new build in the
mountainous region of Flims, the idyllic Caravia Beach Hotel nestled against the backdrop of one of Kos’ award-
winning beaches and even the capital’s very own Mandarin Oriental Hotel which has been selected as a finalist
in the Suites category.
GROHE and the AHEAD awards will celebrate the MEA hospitality industry’s very finest projects in Dubai on
Wednesday 13 th November followed by the European regional event which takes place at a brand-new
location, London’s Battersea Evolution, on Monday 18 th November.
