Members of a Heywood charity which provides holidays for disabled and terminally ill children and their families had a wonderful surprise when they attended the Charity Night at Winter Wonderland Manchester.
Staff and families from Trewan Sands Children’s Trust were guests at Winter Wonderland Manchester’s annual Charity Night when organisers Kingpin Events gave away over £50,000 worth of free tickets to over 40 charities in the North West to attend the festive extravaganza at EventCity on 9th December.
As well as being able to enjoy all the rides and shows free of charge, the charity received a very special surprise courtesy of CLC World Charity Holidays – 14 nights’ free accommodation at their Regal Oaks resort in Orlando, Florida.
The two-floor townhouse comes equipped with its own private hot tub, fully-equipped kitchen and sleeps up to six people; it’s also located in a complex with fabulous amenities from poolside bars to exquisite dining options. Set in the heart of the theme park capital of the world, the accommodation is just four miles from Walt Disney World™ and a stone’s throw from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™.
Graham Wilding from CLC World Resorts & Hotels was delighted to award Trewan Sands trustees Louise and Andrew Dawson with the accommodation and explained why this deserving charity was selected.
He said: “As a family-owned business with a strong focus on providing memorable family holidays, it’s an honour to be able to support worthwhile causes such as the Trewan Sands Children’s Trust.
“When we created CLC World Charity Holidays, our vision was to make a lasting difference to those who need it most so their commitment to providing much-needed holidays for terminally ill and severely disabled children and their families really stood out for us amongst all the fantastic charities represented at Winter Wonderland Manchester.
“Our award of a 14-night holiday echoes the original quest that led to Andrew and Louise Dawson setting the charity up, after their friend’s son was given only months to live and they fundraised to help make the family dream of one last holiday together in Florida come true.
“Caring for someone with a disability or terminal illness is a huge responsibility so we really hope our donation will give one of the charity’s deserving families a holiday to cherish.”
Louise Dawson, Trustee of Trewan Sands Children’s Trust said: “We had the most amazing surprise at Winter Wonderland Manchester. I am still in shock, to be chosen out of all the incredible charities there on Friday and be awarded a two-week holiday accommodation to Florida for up to six people is beyond our wildest dreams.
“We will auction the voucher off to raise much needed funds to continue supplying holidays and day trips to disabled and terminally ill children and their families. A massive thank you from all the team here at Trewan Sands Children’s Trust.”
