wagamama set to open new flagship store at Battersea Power Station

On Monday 17th April, wagamama’s brand new flagship restaurant is set to open at Battersea Power Station, London’s newest and most exciting riverside neighbourhood, as demand continues to grow for the popular pan Asian brand and its nourishing dishes.

As part of wagamama’s mission to spread positivity from bowl to soul, a philosophy rooted in the belief that food doesn’t just feed our bellies, but our souls too, the new Battersea Power Station restaurant will serve up crowd favourites, including rice bowls, noodles, curries and a menu which offers 50 per cent plant-based dishes.

After an eight-year restoration process, the Grade II* listed Power Station opened its doors to the public for the first time in history in October 2022 and has been transformed into a new must-visit retail and leisure destination in the capital. The London landmark is home to over 100 shops, bars, restaurants, 254 apartments, offices and leisure venues including Lift 109, a unique glass elevator experience, which takes visitors to the top of the building’s northwest chimney, offering stunning 360 degree views.

Located on Prospect Way, directly outside the Power Station and the new Zone 1 Battersea Power Station Underground station, the stylish new restaurant has been designed for 150 covers. Open seven days a week, the new restaurant will create 75new jobs, bringing wagamama’s total to 157 restaurants across the UK.

Overseeing the grand opening are long-standing employees General Manager Anastasia Kozinova and Head Chef Diara Blahima, who collectively, have worked at wagamama for 30 years.

Looking forward to seeing wagamama make its iconic debut at Battersea Power Station Anastasia comments, “We are so excited to open the doors to our brand-new flagship restaurant in such an iconic part of London. Our benches will soon be welcoming the community of Battersea alongside those travelling to the historic Power Station for a destination visit and we can’t wait to serve up some of our fresh favourites to all. Our fantastic new team have been working hard to ensure we can bring our much-loved wagamama service to the people of Battersea and they are so excited to land in their beautiful new restaurant once works are complete.”

Hoping to engage with the wider local community, wagamama is teaming up with World Heart Beat, a Battersea & Wandsworth-based charity working closely with schools and community organisations in Nine Elms, whose goal is to transform the lives of young people through music.

Supporting the charity and its mission to make music accessible to all, wagamama has pledged to sponsor a local primary school’s participation in World Heart Beat’s outreach programme, as well as school concerts and family events. The programme will enable children to receive music classes and workshops outside of their school day for free, enriching their daily lives.

Sal Sherratt, Commercial Director, at World Heart Beat comments on the partnership: “World Heart Beat wants children from all backgrounds to be able to come together with their peers to nurture friendships, learn new skills and grow in confidence. We bring joy to children’s lives through music. We are so grateful to wagamama for their vital support and hope other businesses will follow their example.”

Stay tuned for many exciting bookable experiences in the build up to the launch, including a cocktail event series and a preview community first-look at the new restaurant.
