The Red Lion

The Red Lion has tapped into the hotel market with the arrival of ten boutique
bedrooms situated on the upper levels of the property. The much loved local public house has
cemented itself as a reliable and friendly drinking hole for tourists and locals alike for decades. Located on Leytonstone High Road, in the middle of London’s Borough of Culture, The Red Lion,
open seven days a week, prides itself on their selection of local beers, home-spun food, traditional
hospitality and now, their new hotel offering. With a rise in staycations as well as a keen interest in
discovering London’s expanding neighbourhoods, The Red Lion is a high-quality destination pub
providing a convenient overnight pit stop for Londoners as well as travellers from further afield.

The Rooms
The Red Lion is now home to ten double bedrooms, including one family suite. Unashamedly
British, the rooms have been decorated with personality and comfort in mind. Each room boasts
individual style and character reminiscent of much-loved Antic pub interiors; vintage glamour with
beautiful wallpapers, vintage and up-cycled furniture together with luxurious fabrics create a
relaxing, intimate and cosy atmosphere.

Staying true to the values and theme of The Red Lion, the bedrooms have been filled with a
myriad of vintage furniture sourced from Sunbury and Sandown Antiques Market as well as
second-hand shops across the capital. Paying homage to the historical architecture and period
features, the rooms still retain fireplaces lovingly restored from yesteryears, as well as age-old
features flecked with modern touches.

Each en suite echoes the décor, with detailed wallpaper and vintage mirrors combined with stylish
baths and spacious walk in showers. The family suite features a snug reading corner, fully stocked
with bed time stories and bean bags for little ones, plus bunk beds with reading lights to keep
them entertained.

With attention to detail at every turn, the bedrooms also come equipped with fully-integrated
smart LED television, as well as fast fibre WiFi connection, for uninterrupted FaceTime, Skype and
online browsing. The rooms also use a keyless entry system, so guests only need their mobile to
gain access.

Like with everything at The Red Lion, community and locality is at its heart. Sticking to the pub’s
core values, the rooms are stocked with high-quality products from the likes of Nespresso and
Aromatherapy Associates, as well as breakfast baked goods sourced from the local bakery ‘The
Wild Goose Bakery’.

Function Room
An important part of The Red Lion is the downstairs function room, fondly known as the
Leytonstone Ballroom. Already a popular venue for weddings and live music events, the
multifaceted venue has history running through the walls. The room was the first London venue
that Led Zeppelin played and more recently, has hosted modern legends such as Craig Charles, Bad
Manners and Norman Jay.

Downstairs Restaurant
The Red Lion goes far beyond just pulling pints. The well-loved boozer serves a seasonally-rotating
menu brimming with locally sourced produce and a strong focus on modern British fare. Dishes
include the likes of hearty and comforting classics such as Hackney battered haddock and chips;
sausage, mash and gravy (veggie option available); and pan fried fillet of cod with crushed
potatoes, samphire and salsa rosso. Sunday roasts at The Red Lion are legendary, with the likes of
roasted chicken, slow roast topside beef, and pork belly, served with roast potatoes, buttered
carrots, parsnips, seasonal greens and gravy. Food at the Red Lion includes vegan options too, as
well as a popular vegan roast: Squash & Sage Nut Roast with Mushroom Gravy.

Local Attractions
Providing a home-from-home base for business workers, out-of-towners and the curious, The Red
Lion is a short distance from many of London’s best attractions and local landmarks. Guests can
spend hours or a full day at the UK’s 4th largest shopping complex Westfield Stratford, discover
the London 2012 Olympic legacy at Queen Elizabeth Park or return to nature with a wander across
the wild expanse of common land Wanstead Flats.

Central London is a short train ride away, and is easily accessed by the Central Line and London
Overground via Leytonstone High Road railway station and Leytonstone tube station; both found a
10 minute walk from The Red Lion.
