Belu water hits £1m in donations to WaterAid thanks to top UK hotels

British social enterprise Belu Mineral Water is celebrating a landmark achievement this World Water Day (22nd March) as it announces reaching £1m in donations to WaterAid – five years ahead of schedule.

Belu donates 100% of its profits to the international development charity, which works to transform the lives of people living in the poorest regions of the world by providing access to safe, clean water. In 2014, Belu pledged to donate £1m to WaterAid by 2020, transforming the lives of over 66,000 people, a target which has now been exceeded in half the allocated time.

An exclusive lunch will be held at Raymond Blanc’s Michelin-starred restaurant Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons, to thank Belu’s loyal customers in the catering and hospitality industry, with representatives from top hotel chains such as Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) on the guest list.

“We are thrilled to have reached our £1m target in such record time,” commented Belu CEO Karen Lynch. “Five years ago Belu was a drop in the ocean of bottled water brands, and the term ‘social enterprise’ was barely heard of. Now, with such a strong partnership between Belu, WaterAid and our customers, we can say that our socially conscious way of doing business is making a huge difference.”
