Former Man United teammates Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs have secured planning permission to redevelop the former Stock Exchange in Manchester into a boutique hotel.
The Grade-II listed 4 Norfolk Street site will feature 35 bedrooms, a gym and spa and a rooftop extension for a private members’ club. The news comes ahead of the duo’s launch of Hotel Football, their first hotel venture together, which is set to open on March 2nd. Despite the strong sporting connections, the second hotel from the former footballers is not thought to be football-themed.
The news comes two years after Giggs and Neville first acquired the 1906-built building, bought for £1.5m back in 2013. Their application, approved by council officers on Friday, says: “We believe this overall proposal brings a historical piece of Manchester back into existence to be experienced and enjoyed inclusively by the public.
