The Summer Lodge Evershot Dorset Summer Lodge provides crocheted pillows to hang on the door which read ‘doggy in room’ if a unattended dog is present, instead of the typical ‘do not disturb’ signs. When guests make a booking, the hotel enquires as to what type of walks guests are interested in and tailor a programme to suit their dog. Butlers have also been known to present canine companions with a plate of specially prepared sausages.

The Crown & Castle, Suffolk The Crown and Castle in Suffolk is nestled in the peaceful village of Orford. Treats for four-legged friends include dog towels and blankets, a selection of edible treats and pooches are allowed to roam anywhere in the hotel’s vicinity, with the exception of the restaurant for Health and hygiene reasons clearly.

Dogs are welcome in the funky bar and restaurant and small dogs are best suited for the pub’s bedrooms. Guests can enjoy wood-fired pizzas while dogs can dine on a specially-tailored doggy menu.
