The Beaumont named best luxury launch of 2014

The Beaumont in London has been named the best new luxury hotel in 2014 by Luxury Travel Intelligence.

Members’ only organisation, Luxury Travel Intelligence provides reports for rich travellers on top end destinations.

It has just published what it judges to be the best hotel openings 2014 and Beaumont London heads the list with praise for its Art Deco-inspired rooms and ‘perfect service’. The ‘warm and welcoming suites’ and on-site restaurant The Colony Grill Room cinched the judgment for the Beaumont.

Restaurateur partners Chris Corbin and Jeremy King opened the first boutique in their Corbin & King portfolio in Mayfair, minutes from Bond Street and Hyde Park. The boutique features 50 rooms, 13 studios and 10 suites.

Andy Murray’s Cromlix boutique in Dunblane was 10th on the list, praised for its country atmosphere and charming local staff.

However the Shangri-La London in Then Shard was slated by the LTI team and earned the tile of worst luxury hotel 2014 because of a design fault that allows guests views into other rooms despite the management hastily erecting blinds after complaints.

The judges also found the décor ‘lack lustre’ and condemned the Shangri-La to be on par with ‘the average 4 out of five star hotel’. Tim and Kit Kemp’s London Ham Yard boutique also came in for criticism that it ‘has a feel of a pop up and appears unfinished and lacking in warmth and character’.
