Adam Mason Joins CEDA as Director General

CEDA has appointed Adam Mason as its first Director General. Starting in the post on 1st September Adam will work closely with the CEDA board and office team to grow the association, and support its aim of being the catering equipment sector’s voice of authority.

He brings a wealth of experience to the new role with CEDA having held senior roles with Association of British Furniture Manufacturers for 11 years, latterly as Commercial Director from 2007.
Talking about his appointment Adam said, “I am delighted to take up this new post with CEDA and I look forward to adding real value to the association, the membership and the wider Industry. I will work closely with the CEDA Board, Fiona and Peter to ensure that my knowledge of the industry is comprehensive and will use my extensive trade association experience to achieve the aims and objectives of the Board.

“Specifically, we are looking to grow the membership, develop an outstanding package of services and reach a level of recognition within the foodservice industry that every stakeholder in commercial kitchen design and procurement insists that it uses a CEDA member company.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting CEDA members and partners at the CEDA/CESA Catering Equipment Technical Conference in October and the regional meetings in November.”

The new Director General’s experience will be invaluable to CEDA as Jack Sharkey, CEDA Chairman explains,”Adam has been at the helm of a large trade association representing the membership and industry to UK Government and the EU. He has developed effective strategies for membership recruitment and retention, international trade, events, exhibitions, PR, marketing, advertising and membership services. His strengths fit in perfectly with CEDA’s aim to represent the best catering equipment distributors in the UK and to be the ‘go to’ trade association for end-users in foodservice.”

Adam has hands-on experience from the catering and food industries having being a duty manager in a pub restaurant and an account manager for a frozen food company. A former professional rugby union player in Canada he lives in Warwickshire with his wife Rachel. He’s still very passionate about the sport he played and also lists travel and military history as hobbies.
